Shilaea Motacc

A scientist named Shilaea Motacc, holding the titles of Doctor, was a Human of female gender. She was a renowned authority in the domains of planetary and large-scale propulsion systems, achieving this status before reaching the age of thirty. However, Motacc was unknowingly manipulated by the dark Jedi Karae Nalvas in 31 BBY, who sought to construct a flying city for destructive purposes on the planet Genarius. Upon uncovering the truth, she abandoned Nalvas and allied herself with his adversaries, striving to halt the devastation she had inadvertently contributed to.

Biography

Born in 60 BBY, Shilaea Motacc pursued a career as a scientist, rapidly becoming a celebrated expert and researcher in her specialized field: large-scale propulsion for planets and planetary platforms, a feat she accomplished before turning thirty. Displaying a persistent fascination with the seemingly unrelated discipline of archaeology, Motacc dedicated time to participating in archaeological probing endeavors, acquiring practical field experience. She had already been engaged as an independent propulsion researcher for several years leading up to 31 BBY.

Subsequently, Motacc received a job proposition from Fesvk Wefos, a manager representing the Usable Resource Location, Recovery, and Development Corporation. Wefos informed Motacc that U.R.L.R.D. intended to broaden its operations to the gas giant Genarius, situated within the Cularin system, and wished to enlist her expertise in developing a novel propulsion system specifically for flying cities. However, Wefos was in actuality a dark Jedi, Karae Nalvas, whose true objective was to erect a flying fortress capable of launching attacks and obliterating the cities of Genarius. Nalvas skillfully employed the Force and his inherent charisma to sway Motacc, all while concealing his true identity and malevolent scheme.

Motacc accepted the position at U.R.L.R.D. and was rewarded with a vacation to Rorkee, a resort city located on Genarius, as an added perk. Rorkee was renowned for its simulated archaeological digs, complete with purported evidence of pre-Republic aliens once inhabiting Dorumaa, attractions that Motacc was eager to explore. U.R.L.R.D. planned to dispatch a group of college students to collaborate with Dr. Motacc in conducting research.

During her vacation, Motacc frequented the Sanads of Rorkee hotel, cultivating a friendship with sabacc expert Kli-Klu Niib, and repeatedly visited the Cabana Bar to indulge in barman Hurrwarr's signature beverage, the Double-Dip Outer Rim Rumdrops.

Certain business associates of Nalvas sought to exploit Motacc's talents for illicit financial gain and were prepared to secure her assistance by force. They orchestrated a kidnapping disguised as an accidental cave-in, enlisting the aid of local archaeologist and guide Blibbie to ensure that no one would be harmed during the staged disaster. The conspirators, having secured positions at the dig site, intended to abduct Motacc and confine her within a prepared cage located in a work area beneath the Sanads building. The sole access point to their hidden lair was a tunnel leading from the hotel's kitchen.

The abduction proved successful, despite Motacc's resistance, which included kicking several of her captors. Motacc was secretly imprisoned, and the authorities in Rorkee were informed of her supposed accidental death.

Motacc's captors were careful to conceal their identities and any information that could lead back to them. She was held in a cage equipped with weight-sensitive alarms and guarded by two sentinels. She was visited by an unidentified hooded male sentient, who conveyed that his master would be pleased to utilize Motacc's knowledge to complete his task. Beyond this encounter, she only overheard fragmented conversations that provided no useful insights.

Motacc's abductors transported her personal belongings from the hotel to the dig site, seemingly to avoid using the kitchen entrance. They also purchased all available Double-Dip Outer Rim Rumdrops from the Cantina Bar, paying in cash but inadvertently leaving behind the glasses of one of their members. Some of them sought the services of local masseur Ulo Enan to treat injuries sustained during the capture. Several of the dig workers involved, including Bibble, began exhibiting peculiar behavior. Although the authorities in Rorkee declined to answer any inquiries regarding the incident or return Motacc's body to her family, many locals, including the bellsentients Ta'Sen and Trago Smusch, believed that Dr. Motacc was still alive.

Karae Nalvas, eager to retrieve his asset, masqueraded as the concerned boss Wefos and hired a group of independent adventurers. Nalvas dispatched them to Rorkee, where they posed as college students sent by U.R.L.R.D. The adventurers eventually located and rescued Motacc, although the identities of the perpetrators remained unknown.

Motacc and her rescuers journeyed to the planet Cularin, where they once again encountered the false Wefos. Wefos rewarded the adventurers with a bonus and celebrated with them and Motacc at a local bistro, Bath Rabbud's.

Shortly thereafter, Nalvas's long time adversary Alec, a Jedi Knight, exposed Wefos's true identity and began gathering contacts and resources to oppose him. Alec pilfered the blueprints for the flying city Nalvas was constructing, Conkesta, and duplicated them as a precaution against Nalvas recovering the originals. Nalvas's attempts to eliminate Alec were unsuccessful.

Simultaneously, Motacc discovered that some of her new colleagues had been involved in her previous kidnapping on Rorkee. Alarmed, Motacc sought a means of escape. She encountered or was found by Alec and some of his associates, who were eager to assist her. Upon learning of Nalvas's true intentions, Motacc agreed to support Alec and his companions in their own plan to thwart Nalvas.

Motacc informed Alec that the Conkesta possessed a critical, unresolved flaw in its propulsion software: A specific sequence of commands could disable the controls and send the city hurtling into space, where it would inevitably explode due to its lack of space-worthiness. Motacc and several of Alec's slicer allies collaborated to develop a computer virus designed to trigger this effect upon being uploaded into the propulsion system's main control. However, unbeknownst to them, their untested program would actually produce the opposite result: Instead of launching the city away from the planet's core, it would cause it to plummet towards the core.

Alec and Motacc convened with the heroes of Cularin at Bath Rabbud's. Alec requested that the heroes undertake an individual raid on the Conkesta with the specific objective of accessing the main computer and uploading the virus. Motacc elucidated the workings of her code, the information she possessed about the Conkesta, and her personal motivations during the same briefing. Motacc, who was not a combatant, would not participate in the raid; and Alec unsuccessfully attempted to intercept Nalvas elsewhere while the heroes of Cularin were engaged in their mission. The Conkesta was destroyed when it crashed into the planet's core.

Personality and traits

At the age of 29, during her dealings with Karae Nalvas, Motacc stood five feet tall, possessed an athletic physique, and was considered quite attractive. She was known to have living relatives at this time.

She was a remarkably intelligent and enthusiastic researcher. Her expertise in planetary propulsion and its applications to large-scale artificial propulsion systems led her to be regarded as one of the most promising young minds in her field across the galaxy in 31 BBY. She was also a skilled archaeologist and had participated in numerous research projects and academic digs.

Motacc was a resolute and courageous young woman: She confronted the individuals attempting to overpower her, even though she was alone, unarmed, and facing a well-prepared, numerically superior force in Rorkee. Subsequently, after being imprisoned in a cage, she endured her captivity and seemingly suffered no lasting trauma following her liberation. However, she was not without fear: Upon discovering that some of her new colleagues had been involved in her ordeal, she became apprehensive and sought a way out. Once the Jedi Alec offered his assistance, Motacc bravely volunteered to aid him against a powerful and cunning dark Jedi—despite the fact that she herself faced minimal physical risk.
