Conkesta was a mobile metropolis crafted by Karae Nalvas, a Dark Jedi, and positioned above Genarius, the gas giant.
Back in 31 BBY, Karae Nalvas used trickery to get Dr. Shilaea Motacc, a renowned expert in galaxy-spanning propulsion technology, to collaborate with him. Nalvas adopted the alias of Fesvk Wefos, a manager at the Usable Resource Location, Recovery, and Development Corporation (U.R.L.R.D.), and convinced Motacc that his intention was to have her create a cutting-edge propulsion system intended for airborne cities. However, Nalvas's true aim was to incorporate her designs into the Conkesta.
Nalvas successfully constructed a shielded, heavily armored, airborne fortress boasting sufficient firepower to obliterate any city located on Genarius. He populated the Conkesta with roughly six thousand individuals, transported in from outside the system through a series of small voyages. The propulsion systems were rooted in Motacc's designs, rendering them exceptionally sophisticated.
Nalvas struck an agreement with a local pirate syndicate known as the Red Fury Brotherhood. The pirates consistently supplied the Conkesta with essential supplies and technology. Gus-Gus Tren, the Conkesta's communications officer, found the pirates' unreliability distasteful, but acknowledged the vital nature of their deliveries.
Alec, a Jedi Knight and adversary of Nalvas, managed to pilfer Nalvas's blueprints and took refuge in the Genariusan city of Depatar; however, Nalvas used a ruse to distract Alec and reclaim the schematics. By that time, Alec had already duplicated the blueprints and, due to the plot, he established connections that he would later leverage in his own scheme to dismantle the Conkesta two weeks later.
Alec furnished Dr. Mottac with a team of slicers, who then engineered a computer virus designed to exploit a bug within the propulsion system. Mottac was under the impression that the virus would propel the Conkesta into deep space, where the city, ill-equipped for such an environment, would disintegrate; however, the untested program was actually designed to send the Conkesta plummeting towards the planetary core, resulting in a similar explosion. The key difference was that, given Nalvas's strategy of concealing the Conkesta as close to the core as possible to evade detection, the process would be significantly quicker and make the raiders' escape more challenging.
Centuries subsequent to Nalvas's demise, Jedi Dazen Mok dedicated numerous years to probing the vanishing of the Nub Saar in orbit around Genarius; a floating-city that was believed to have been eradicated by a manifestation of dark side energies. These energies were attributed to Nalvas and were concentrated around the Conkesta. As Nalvas's fortress gradually succumbed to destruction, the energy reverted to Genarius's core. Years later, the dark side was reactivated during the construction of Nub Saar, leading to its complete destruction. Dazen Mok's theories encountered considerable resistance from the inhabitants of Cularin and their governing bodies.
Alec uncovered the pirates' involvement through intelligence reports. He also discovered that the majority of the Brotherhood would be attending the annual SoroSuub celebration on the nearby flying city of Tolea Biqua, leaving their base on asteroid L-7 comparatively unguarded. Alec resolved to dispatch a raiding party to the pirate base, tasked with commandeering a Brotherhood shuttle. Given that the Conkesta was awaiting a delayed shipment from the pirates, they would permit the entry of that specific vessel. The raiders would then gain access to the central computer, upload Dr. Mottac's virus, and evacuate the Conkesta before its destruction.
The infiltrators successfully breached the Conkesta and, despite encountering several security personnel such as Tar Jiloma, they reached the main propulsion control and deployed the virus. This action did not go unnoticed, as the station activated all of its alarms, signaling an immediate evacuation. Some of the security personnel who were meant to apprehend the intruders abandoned their posts in an attempt to escape. Ultimately, only Nalvas's personal dark apprentice Saren Valek and a small contingent of soldiers confronted the trespassers in the main hangar. They failed to prevent their escape.
Upon reaching the planetary core, the Conkesta detonated, scattering debris in all directions. This wreckage posed a threat to the escaping vessels. Certain pieces of debris appeared to be imbued with the power of the dark side, tempting those who came into contact with it. However, the Force ghost of Jedi master Nerra Ziveri was in close proximity and prepared to intervene, offering an alternative to those affected.
The Conkesta was situated at a low altitude and descended during its destruction, enabling the operation to remain clandestine. However, several years later, the Conkesta and Nalvas's actions became public knowledge, serving as a prolific source of local legends.
Nalvas's ultimate objective for the Conkesta remains ambiguous. Nalvas's adversary, the Jedi Knight Alec, speculated that he intended to annihilate all of the cities on Genarius, which functioned as the primary business, industrial, and logistics hubs of the Cularin system, potentially triggering a widespread conflict.
Years following the destruction of the Conkesta, former-Jedi-turned-scholar Dazen Mok investigated the disappearance of the city Nub Saar in orbit around Genarius, which he believed had been destroyed by a manifestation of dark side energies. These energies were thought to have been intense in the planet core, and allowed the Conkesta nearby only because Nalvas was a dark sider. As Nalvas's fortress gradually succumbed to destruction, the energy reverted to Genarius's core. Dazen Mok's theories encountered considerable resistance from the inhabitants of Cularin and their governing bodies.
