Resol'nare

The core principles of Mandalorian culture were encapsulated in the Resol'nare, which translates to the Six Actions from Mando'a into Galactic Basic Standard. These actions encompassed wearing armor, using the language, defending oneself and one's family, raising children in the Mandalorian way, contributing to the well-being of the clan, and answering the call of the Mand'alor to rally to their cause.

Living by these principles daily was a requirement for anyone desiring recognition as a Mandalorian. Mandalorians who failed to adhere to the Resol'nare were labeled dar'manda, signifying someone disconnected from their Mandalorian heritage and devoid of their Mandalorian soul. This dar'manda status was greatly feared within Mandalorian society, stemming from the belief that such individuals lacked a soul and had no place in the Manda, the Mandalorian concept of the afterlife. Prior to and during the Mandalorian Wars, all non-Mandalorians were considered dar'manda and inherently soulless from birth, that is until they integrated into Mandalorian society and embraced the Resol'nare. Groups of captured individuals were often forcibly integrated into Mandalorian culture, compelled to swear allegiance to the Resol'nare whether they consented or not, under threat of death. This extreme devotion lessened over time as the Mandalorians transitioned into a less religiously focused, more secular society.

To aid in learning the tenets of the Resol'nare, young Mandalorian children were taught a rhyme, and their parents would elaborate on the cultural importance of each tenet as they matured.

Behind the scenes

Karen Traviss originated the concept of the Resol'nare; they initially appeared in the Star Wars Insider article titled The Mandalorians: People and Culture.
