Ridlay, a world of stone, served as the home planet for a sentient species. This planet underwent a complete eclipse once every half-century (years), an event that blanketed it in shadow. The inhabitants also believed that these eclipses heralded the arrival of ethereal spirits. In the era of the Clone Wars, one such eclipse was marked by an assault from these entities, compelling the native population to flee their settlements and seek refuge. Following this, due to the complete communications blackout from the planet, Jedi General Mace Windu and the Lightning Squadron were subsequently dispatched to Ridlay to look into the situation.
