The Rift Disaster refers to an incident where numerous vessels belonging to the Charr Ontee species hailing from Kathol experienced a dimensional shift, being displaced from realspace and transported into otherspace. These Charr Ontee, marooned in otherspace, discovered a new home, and subsequently evolved into a distinct subspecies recognized as the Charon.
