Rocket booster
The altitude jet, alternatively referred to as a rocket thruster or rocket booster, represented a rocket propulsion system manufactured by Brooks Propulsion Devices. It was intended for integration with Industrial Automaton R-series astromech droids. Throughout the galaxy's timeline, comparable mechanisms were engineered for diverse droid models.
Characteristics
Astromech droids were equipped with rocket boosters integrated into their two lateral legs, granting them temporary aerial capability. These adaptable boosters could be extended and modified to accommodate different elevations.
History
Following the Clone Wars, the Galactic Empire forced Brooks Propulsion Devices to cease operations, thereby discontinuing their series of rocket boosters. Certain Droids, including R2-D0 and R2-D2, continued to possess their booster systems. However, R2-D2 eventually compromised his booster parts, preventing him from flying.
