Luke Skywalker and Leia Organa, both Rebels, were guided on the planet of Kadril by a male Kadrillian named Rodno. Rodno was ultimately reunited with his lover, Deerna, thanks to the assistance of the Rebels.
Rodno served as a young assistant to Dal Quirz, the head of science at Kadril. He desired to be with Deerna, but she deemed him an unsuitable partner after hearing from Nociv. Rodno's hopes rested on the strength of his experimental invention, the Vibro-crystal.
Luke Skywalker, Leia Organa, Han Solo, and Chewbacca were encountered by Rodno. After Quirz revealed that Darth Vader sought to obtain Kunda, Rodno, Han, and Luke journeyed to the Nocivs, the location of Kunda.
Rodno issued a warning to the Nocivs about an impending attack by stormtroopers. During this assault, Mdel was awakened, and the elder was laid to rest on the Hom Mounds. Deerna still considered Rodno unworthy, but during a final assault by Father using the Pacifog, Rodno bravely saved Deerna's life.
Simultaneously, Leia, Del Quirz, and Chewbacca discovered that Rodno's Vibro-crystal was a resounding success, even providing protection against Father's Pacifog. Following his recovery from his injuries, Deerna finally recognized Rodno as a worthy partner.
The comic strip Planet of Kadril, created by Russ Helm and Alfredo Alcala, featured Rodno. Helm, who was a drummer, named the character after Rodney Bingenheimer, an American radio DJ.
