The anomalous, unnamed planetoid within the Taris system was known by the nickname "Rogue Moon". This moon was positioned amidst the asteroid field, yet its orbit was retrograde, meaning it moved in the opposite direction compared to the surrounding asteroids. Consequently, it endured intense bombardment from meteors. Due to the extraordinarily weak gravity on this moon, individuals could theoretically descend from space to its surface without requiring rockets for deceleration.
In the year 3964 BBY, this moon served as the location for the Jedi Trials undertaken by Padawans training at the Jedi Tower situated on the planet Taris. The five Padawans were released from a high orbital position onto the moon, and, with their blast shields lowered, they were tasked with traversing a vast valley to reach their Masters. During these trials, the vision experienced by their masters ultimately precipitated the tragic Padawan Massacre. The masters had deployed a loader droid, specifically designated T1-LB, to establish a protective shield for themselves. In an effort to conceal the vision's existence, one of the masters, Lucien Draay, employed the Force to displace T1-LB from the cliff's edge.
One Padawan, Zayne Carrick, successfully evaded his masters, thus avoiding the Padawan Massacre. Acting on an intuition, Carrick, accompanied by the crew of The Last Resort, journeyed to the Rogue Moon. There, Carrick discovered T1-LB, heavily damaged, at the base of the cliff where the masters had their vision. When the Taris Civil Authority and the Jedi masters pursued Carrick to the Rogue Moon, the fugitive Padawan managed to escape, taking T1-LB with him. Following the droid's repair by Camper, it played back a recording of the Masters' vision to Carrick.
Years afterwards, the Death's Claw pirates once maintained a stronghold on the asteroid-battered Rogue Moon of Taris. A secret cache belonging to the pirate captain was abandoned when the base was deserted.
