Rogue One: Recon - A Star Wars 360 Experience, a 360° immersive adventure, was developed by ILMxLAB and made available at Verizon retail locations and on YouTube. Serving as a narrative lead-in to the 2016 Star Wars anthology film Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, it premiered on November 10, 2016. John Knoll is credited with the concept, writing, and direction of this experience.
The galaxy is primarily governed by conflict. As a typical X-wing pilot serving the Rebellion, you are instantly placed in the expansive environment of space, accompanied only by your R4 astromech droid and wingman. A seemingly ordinary assignment from Mon Mothma quickly evolves when you unexpectedly encounter Imperial forces — and something they are determined to conceal.
ILMxLAB produced this immersive experience, featuring voice acting by Sam Witwer and Emily O'Brien as the two Rebel pilots. The script and flight trajectory underwent several revisions before the team settled on the definitive structure.
