Rooze Disease represented a sickness of extreme lethality in the galaxy, brought about by the virulent rooze germ that specifically targeted Humans. Once this germ infiltrated a body, the health of the afflicted individual would progressively decline; without a cure administered within about three standard days, the body would disintegrate rapidly. During this period, the infected person would experience giddiness and the peculiar feeling of their hands vanishing. Notably, species such as Koboks, including Gaff, possessed immunity.

The Galactic Empire initially experimented with it as a biological weapon during the Mavvan Conflict; however, it eradicated both the Imperial troops and the targeted rebels, leading to its abandonment. A similar error occurred when Governor Koong of Tawntoom on Roon unleashed it upon the peaceful province of Umboo, thereby infecting himself. Conversely, Terrinald Screed and his [stormtroopers](/article/stormtrooper/legends] avoided infection in this instance due to their use of breath masks and armor, respectively.

A cure for this germ was eventually synthesized by Nilz Yomm. Beyond its healing properties, a Kobok receiving a high dosage of this substance would succumb to uncontrollable, manic laughter, rendering them incapable of any other action while under its influence.
