Rosco Ross

Rosco Ross, a powerfully built male Human, fought for the Rebel Alliance during the era of the Galactic Civil War.

Biography

In the year 1 BBY, Rosco's ambition was to become a stormtrooper; however, he failed the required entry examination. Embittered by his inability to serve the Galactic Empire, Rosco decided to harm the Empire by enlisting with the Alliance to Restore the Republic.

Within the Rebel base known as AX-456, Rosco maintained friendships, including one with Ors, and he experienced the loss of many of these friends during the Imperial raid.

Later, he collaborated with Rebel agent Jan Ors and Ris Waller on the luxury liner Star of Empire, ostensibly for a "recruiting trip". Ors, a survivor of the aforementioned raid, yearned for battlefield retribution, expressing her disappointment to Ross. In response, he acknowledged his own losses and shared desire for revenge, but emphasized that the timing was not right, and that the orders came from "the top" because Ors needed to "cool her engines", and was considering that mission a great opportunity to travel onboard a cruiser.

Ors detected the presence of Imperial officer Kyle Katarn on board, leading to his pursuit of her. The three of them then formulated a spontaneous strategy to apprehend him. Rosco was positioned in the storeroom when Waller communicated via comlink that Katarn was approaching his location. Ors arrived first, followed shortly by Katarn, who was immediately subdued by Rosco's choke hold; Katarn found himself unable to break free from Rosco's powerful grip. Waller then made his entrance.

Ors instructed Rosco to confine Katarn within the storeroom. Rosco threw him onto the floor, and unexpectedly, Katarn stood up and delivered a backward kick that struck Rosco's knee; surprisingly, Rosco felt no pain. Rosco was prepared to retaliate, but Ors intervened, acknowledging Katarn's courage to take AX-456 and sparing their lives. Rosco voiced skepticism regarding Katarn's promise to release them if they allowed him to leave.

Their activities attracted the attention of a bounty hunter, prompting Katarn to warn Ors that the Imperials were now aware of their presence and imminent arrival. Ors directed them to proceed to the hangar deck and prepare the Truly Sorry. Armed with a blaster carbine and ready for action, he awaited the arrival of Jan and A-Cee, but Katarn appeared first.

He was taken aback when Katarn, assuming a leadership role, instructed him to provide cover for Jan and the droid while he initiated the ship's start-up sequence, highlighting his piloting expertise as justification for his command. Addressing him as "Admiral", Ross inquired about the method for opening the hangar's massive pressure doors, to which Katarn assured him that he would manage it by threatening Hangar Control.

As the doors began to open, Jan entered the hangar, and Rosco relayed this information to Kyle via comlink. She was accompanied by a Rodian and Imperial soldiers. An exchange of gunfire ensued between them and Rosco. Jan collapsed onto the floor due to oxygen deprivation. Rosco, already equipped with an emergency oxygen mask, disregarded Kyle's suggestion to assist her. He lifted her up, and as he turned, a stray piece of paper whipped his face. During those moments, he questioned whether the ship was present or if Kyle had abandoned them, but he was already approaching them and Rosco stepped on the ramp, and were lifted inside.

While Rosco was in the process of recovering, they were pursued by a ship, which, coincidentally, was destroyed by an internal explosion – A-Cee was on board and his self-destruct mechanism was activated – they safely made it to the New Hope.

Personality and traits

Rosco possessed a stocky physique with exceptionally powerful arms; when he applied a choke hold to Katarn, the latter was unable to break free, as it was like bending a durasteel bar. His small eyes were blue, and his nose bore the marks of past altercations. When Katarn first encountered him, his blond hair was styled in a crew cut.
