Rukil's grandfather
This person was a male Human who was banished to the Undercity located on the ecumenopolis planet of Taris because he committed crimes against the governing body of Taris. He was the paternal grandfather of Rukil.
Biography
He was a part of the group known as the Outcasts. In contrast to the other Outcasts, who felt resigned to their fate of living in the Undercity of Taris indefinitely, he firmly believed that the Outcasts possessed the ability to break free by embarking on a search for the Promised Land. However, most of the other outcasts regarded the Promised Lands as nothing more than a myth. He refused to accept this, and so he began searching for any indication of the Promised Land's existence. He ultimately succeeded, leading him into the Undercity sewers. He also documented his discoveries in a journal, but before he could share this with the Outcast village, he was attacked and killed by rakghouls, and his journal and the evidence it contained were lost with him.
Legacy
His son continued the hunt and achieved greater success in locating the Promised Land, documenting his findings in his own journal. However, he too fell victim to the rakghouls inhabiting the sewers, and his discoveries remained unknown.
Rukil himself would also continue the quest, but he never came close to finding it, nor did he recover his father's or grandfather's journals. Eventually, he was forced to abandon the search due to his advanced age, and he hired Malya to take over. She discovered evidence that Rukil's father and grandfather had ventured into the lower sewers of Taris and recorded this information in her journal. Unfortunately, she also met her demise at the hands of a rakghoul, and her findings remained undiscovered. Rukil would not learn of this until 3956 BBY, when he enlisted Revan to find her. During the search, Revan successfully located and retrieved all three journals, delivering them to Rukil.
