He held membership within the Outcasts. In contrast to the majority of the Outcasts, who felt resigned to a permanent existence within Taris's Undercity, he maintained a strong conviction that escape was possible through the pursuit of the Promised Land. Despite the widespread perception of the Promised Lands as merely a myth, he actively sought any indications of its existence. His determined search led him into the depths of the Undercity sewers. He meticulously documented his discoveries in a personal journal, but before he could share this information with the Outcast village, he was tragically attacked and killed by rakghouls. Consequently, his journal and the valuable evidence it contained were lost with him.
His offspring embarked on a similar quest, achieving greater success in locating the Promised Land, which he documented in his own journal. However, he too fell victim to the rakghouls inhabiting the sewers, and his discoveries remained undisclosed.
Rukil, in turn, continued the pursuit, but never achieved significant progress, nor did he recover the journals of his father or grandfather. Eventually, age forced him to abandon the quest, and he subsequently hired Malya to continue the search. Malya uncovered evidence indicating that Rukil's father and grandfather had ventured into the lower sewers of Taris, which she diligently recorded in her journal. Sadly, she suffered the same fate as her predecessors, becoming another victim of the rakghouls. Rukil remained unaware of her fate until 3956 BBY, when he enlisted the aid of Revan to locate her. During this endeavor, Revan successfully located and retrieved all three journals, delivering them to Rukil.
