S9 represented one of the dozen zones of identical size situated within the southern portion of the Death Star. This colossal battle station was an engineering marvel of the Galactic Empire. Similar to the other twenty-three zones located on the space station, this zone extended across 31.4 kilometers of the Death Star's outer edge. A dedicated bridge served as the command center, and it encompassed multiple sectors, each designed for specific functions. The destruction of the Death Star, along with zone S9, occurred in the year 0 BBY. Zone S9 shared boundaries with zones S8 and S10.
