Rodd, a Senator hailing from Fondor, possessed a salvage hauler that was based on Fondor. In the year 23 BBY, he piloted it to a designated meeting location in deep-space situated within the Tapani sector. His purpose was to meet with Margravine Quenelle of Nallastia to discuss salvage rights as part of a Jedi Order-sponsored initiative aimed at preventing a potential civil war. Onboard the salvage hauler, Rodd housed both a CloakShape fighter and a Z-95 Headhunter. During their mission to the Fondor system, he permitted Jedi Master Obi-Wan Kenobi and his Padawan Anakin Skywalker to utilize these starfighters.
Both Quenelle and Rodd asserted their claims to salvage rights over what they believed to be the Sun Runner, an old vessel that had seemingly reappeared recently. In reality, the derelict was a counterfeit ship created by Groodo, a Hutt, as part of a plan to obliterate the Fondor Shipyards and its surface factories. The salvage rights negotiations, overseen by Jedi Knight Bultar Swan alongside Kenobi and Skywalker, took place inside the salon pod of the Republic cruiser Unitive. Rodd expressed concern that if an agreement wasn't achieved within one standard hour and fifteen minutes, the Sun Runner might drift into the Rimma Trade Route, resulting in all involved parties losing their claims to pirates or Kuat Drive Yards salvagers.
However, with representatives from both Fondorian and Nallastian sides remaining unyielding, Swan requested Kenobi's assistance. As Kenobi was about to deliver his decisive judgment, the cruiser experienced a ship-wide power surge that disabled all onboard systems and extinguished the lights. Captain Pietrangelo, the Unitive's commanding officer, located the negotiation group and explained that the surge was triggered when the Sun Runner's sublight engines activated. Consequently, Swan terminated the negotiations to intercept the supposed ancient vessel and rescue any potential survivors.
Rodd escorted Kenobi and Skywalker through a docking tube of the Unitive to his salvage hauler, where his CloakShape and Z-95 Headhunter were ready. The Jedi then utilized these starships to infiltrate and destroy the false Sun Runner, effectively thwarting Groodo's scheme.
