Sanglui functioned as the covert leader of a Rebel cell on Vorzyd V, a planet, during the Galactic Civil War. He was a male Squalris. Publicly, Sanglui presented himself as a frivolous socialite, a facade that masked his secret role. His successful import-export business provided the perfect cover. Notably, he was almost always accompanied by his cherished husk lizard, named Farnak.
Originally from Ifmix VI, a planet, and a Squalris, Sanglui eventually relocated to Vorzyd V, known as the "Gambler's World." There, he established a highly profitable import-export business, reaching peak success around 1 ABY. His affluence granted him entry into the most exclusive social circles of the Outer Rim world, and he maintained a prestigious office in the heart of Efavan, the capital city. However, Sanglui's reputation as a superficial dandy, primarily concerned with extravagant attire and gourmet food, was a deliberate deception. In reality, he secretly headed Efavan's Rebel cell, working discreetly to redistribute the planet's wealth to its inhabitants.
In 1 ABY, Luke Skywalker and Leia Organa, two prominent figures within the Rebellion, journeyed to Vorzyd V. Their mission was to connect with a highly placed Rebel sympathizer within the planet's government, whose identity remained undisclosed. Sanglui knew this contact was Natala Vanden, the President of Vorzyd V, but he guarded her identity closely, fearing severe repercussions from the Galactic Empire if her allegiance were exposed. Shortly after Skywalker and Organa's arrival, Vanden signaled Sanglui, requesting an immediate meeting, but stipulated that only one of them could attend. To decide who would meet with Vanden, Sanglui convened a gathering with Skywalker, Organa, and Paxin, a local Rebel operative. They drew straws, and Skywalker, by chance, drew the short one.
Within Vorzyd V's elite social circles, Sanglui was a familiar figure, regarded as a friendly, docile, and somewhat extravagant gourmand. Sanglui actively fostered this image, consistently appearing in flamboyant, expensive clothing, adorned with jeweled rings, and always accompanied by his beloved husk lizard, Farnak. This carefully constructed persona served to conceal his true objective: as the leader of Efavan's Rebel faction, Sanglui aspired to seize the Empire's wealth on Vorzyd V and redistribute it among the planet's populace. Deeply dedicated to the Rebel cause, Sanglui willingly accepted any risk to safeguard the Alliance's interests on Vorzyd V. When forced to defend himself, he was known to use a SoroSuub ELG-3A blaster pistol.
Sanglui's sole appearance in the Star Wars Legends timeline occurred in Gambler's World, a comic strip story arc penned and illustrated by Russ Manning, released in 1979.
