Around 10 BBY, Maz Kanata, the pirate queen, identified the Sanity Skip as a legitimate trade route for smugglers on a map within Smuggler's Guide, a book where she made a distinction between it and official routes.
The reference book Star Wars: Smuggler's Guide, penned by Daniel Wallace and published in 2018, contained the initial mention of the Sanity Skip.
