Luke Skywalker is seen battling Shimrra Jamaane who is holding the Scepter of Power. The Scepter of Power represented a unique amphistaff utilized by the Supreme Overlord of the Yuuzhan Vong. The Scepter, during Shimrra Jamaane's time as Overlord, mirrored its user; measuring three meters, it surpassed the typical amphistaff in size and bore tattoos displaying the symbols of the Yuuzhan Vong deities. Functioning as the dominant amphistaff, it commanded deference from others of its kind, preventing them from engaging its wielder. Its capabilities as a weapon were on par with its smaller counterparts; during the Battle of Yuuzhan'tar, it ensnared Luke Skywalker. Although bitten by the Scepter, Luke countered by striking it with his lightsaber.
The Scepter was also referred to as the "scepter of rank" during Shimrra's initial encounter with the Elites in The New Jedi Order: The Unifying Force.
