The Scourge, a 900 meter long Imperial Victory I-class Star Destroyer, was a well-known vessel operating under the Galactic Empire in the Darpa sector of the Core Worlds around 0 ABY. This warship, constructed by Rendili StarDrive, was under the command of Vice Admiral Alpiett Gredge. Its duties included patrolling the space surrounding the planet Ralltiir and conducting regular inspections of the sector's two military space stations: Station 2LC/Blue and Station 1B6/Green.
With a length of 900 meters, the Scourge was a Victory I-class Star Destroyer produced by Rendili StarDrive. It came equipped with a primary Class 1 hyperdrive, and a Class 15 hyperdrive as a backup system. The Star Destroyer also contained vital systems like sensors, deflector shields, and a navigation computer. The Scourge required a crew of 4,798 personnel and 402 gunners to operate at full capacity, but it could be operated by a skeleton crew of 1,785 personnel and fifteen gunners. It also had the capacity to carry 2,040 troopers. The vessel had enough supplies to sustain its crew for four years, and could hold 8,100 metric tons of cargo. In terms of weaponry, the destroyer had ten quad laser cannons, forty double turbolaser cannons, eighty concussion missile launchers, and ten tractor beam projectors. The Scourge's maximum speed within a planet's atmosphere was 800 kilometers per hour.

During the Galactic Civil War between the Galactic Empire and the Alliance to Restore the Republic, the Scourge was a well-known Imperial Navy Star Destroyer in the Darpa sector of the Core Worlds around 0 ABY. Under the leadership of Vice Admiral Alpiett Gredge, the Scourge maintained patrols around the planet Ralltiir, and also performed regular inspections of the two Imperial border stations in that sector. These stations were Station 2LC/Blue, a Bavos-I heavy-duty military space platform, and Station 1B6/Green, a Bavos-II heavy-duty military space platform. The Scourge routinely stopped at 2LC/Blue to resupply the space station with new crew members and cargo pods. When Gredge was informed about the mutiny of some crew members from the EF76 Nebulon-B escort frigate Far Orbit against Imperial Captain Vocis Kenit, the Scourge's commander offered his full support to Kenit in the pursuit of the renegade vessel.
The Far Orbit Project, written by Timothy S. O'Brien in 1998, was the first mention of the Scourge. This book, a supplement for West End Games' Star Wars: The Roleplaying Game, continued the theme established in the previous publication, Pirates & Privateers, by following the adventures of the Far Orbit.
The Scourge is a central element in the scenario hook "Who is the More Foolish…" and the adventure idea "Smash the Scourge!" In the former, the Far Orbit's raids on 1B6/Green distract the Scourge from Ralltiir, providing the Rebels on Ralltiir with more freedom. The latter involves the Far Orbit luring the Star Destroyer to an ambush point where an Alliance taskforce either captures or destroys Gredge's ship. However, these adventures are not considered canon because they contradict the events of the adventure scenario The Capture of Coh Veshiv, which is considered the better choice as it is a full blown scenario. The conflict arises because both scenarios result in the Imperials pursuing the Far Orbit in the Darpa and Bormea sectors for the first time.
