Tycho Celchu, a Captain, undertook a reconnaissance operation where he piloted a stolen TIE fighter to observe the planet Coruscant and its defensive systems. Despite initial success, Celchu's mission took a turn for the worse as he attempted to depart, succumbing to an ion cannon attack and subsequent capture by the Galactic Empire.
During the Battle of Bakura, the Alliance to Restore the Republic seized a TIE fighter; this craft was subsequently refitted extensively to accommodate additional sensor arrays. This modified fighter saw action in 5 ABY when the New Republic made the decision to dispatch a pilot to scout Coruscant, the Imperial capital. Captain Tycho Celchu volunteered to undertake this dangerous assignment.
Upon his arrival, Celchu circled Coruscant multiple times, meticulously gathering intelligence regarding the defenses and various installations surrounding the capital world. He then landed to transmit the collected data to the New Republic via multiple channels. The Republic captain remained on Coruscant for a period of two weeks before receiving orders to return and to gather as much additional data as possible during his departure.
Tycho Celchu's rendezvous with a freighter, intended to transport him back to New Republic territory, was thwarted when two ion cannon blasts struck his ship, causing a total systems failure. The self-destruct mechanism was also rendered inoperable, leading to Celchu's capture. He was subsequently transported to the clandestine Lusankya facility, where Ysanne Isard, the Director of Imperial Intelligence, attempted to indoctrinate him as one of her sleeper agents.
