The Second Battle of Borleias unfolded between the Imperial garrisons stationed on Borleias and the Rebel forces, which included surviving members of Rogue Squadron. This engagement occurred several weeks following the calamitous initial attempt by the New Republic to seize control of the planet.
During the initial Battle of Borleias, Corran Horn, a pilot within Rogue Squadron, instructed his R2-unit to compile a report detailing the weather patterns of a planet known only as Blackmoon. Following the disastrous outcome of that first offensive, all aspirations of capturing the world were dismissed... that is, until Corran and Lieutenant Judder Page had the opportunity to examine the report generated by Corran's astromech.
Using this data, the pair successfully identified Blackmoon as the planet Borleias and formulated a revised strategy for its capture. This strategy was subsequently presented to Commander Antilles and General Salm, who then brought it before Admiral Ackbar. This renewed plan was approved and subsequently implemented.
Rogue Squadron's objective was to approach Borleias from its adjacent moon during a recurring meteor shower. Their mission was to eliminate the power conduit responsible for supplying substantial energy to the Imperial installation. Wedge Antilles successfully destroyed the conduit on his second attempt, paving the way for commando units, including Lieutenant Page's, to land and secure control of the planet.
During the confrontation, TIE squadrons once again engaged the Rogues. This time, the Rogues inflicted significant damage upon the Imperial fighters. Corran Horn also intercepted two TIE fighters that were maneuvering to attack one of the Rebel assault transports. Although he successfully destroyed them, he was left stranded as a result. Lacking sufficient fuel to depart the system and return to the Rebel base, he sought refuge on the surface of Borleias' moon.
Subsequently, Imperial forces initiated a search for the lone Rogue across the lunar landscape. Corran managed to evade detection for a period, but was eventually discovered by TIE fighters. He destroyed several before being rescued by fellow Rogue Squadron pilot Tycho Celchu and the smuggler Mirax Terrik.
The battle culminated in an Alliance victory, marking the initial phase of their advance towards Coruscant.
