A clash occurred on the world of Onderon, a planet, marking one of the final engagements of the Mandalorian Wars. This event unfolded around the same time as the Republic launched their second major offensive on the Dxun moon.
Despite its importance in freeing the walled metropolis of Iziz and its citizens from years of Mandalorian control, the recapture of Onderon was not the Republic's primary military objective. Around 3960 BBY, a considerable contingent of Jedi was assigned to land in and retake the walled city. However, the majority of Revan's forces were simultaneously engaged in dislodging the deeply entrenched Mandalorian defenders on the jungle moon.
The intensity of the combat escalated as the battle progressed, with Mandalorian forces breaking apart and executing numerous tactical withdrawals, aiming to eliminate as many Jedi and Republic soldiers as they could.
The destruction caused by the Mandalorians left a lasting impression on the Onderonian population for many years. The sentiment grew that their membership in the Republic had brought more suffering upon them than if they had returned to their former state of xenophobic isolation.
