Selonian cone ship

Cone-shaped Selonian vessels were rudimentary, short-distance vehicles, unable to perform interstellar journeys (and arguably, barely suited for inter_planetary_ travel), and were used by the Selonians.

Properties

The height and length of these craft were approximately the same, and their form resembled a flattened cone, which explains their designation.

These cone ships possessed a unique attribute: they employed vertical takeoff, ascending in a manner reminiscent of ancient rockets from the obscure Pre-Republic period. The pilot's seats and front-facing viewports were situated at the cone's apex, while the exit hatch reached from a point 1.5 meters above the base down to the ground.

Being of an older design, cone ships represented the sole type of spacecraft engineered by the Selonians themselves. Since Selonians lacked a natural inclination for adventure, they generally refrained from space travel. When space travel became necessary, they opted for vessels procured from other species. These cone ships exhibited sluggishness, poor maneuverability, and inadequate sensor capabilities, rendering them vulnerable to surprise attacks from the rear by opposing spacecraft.

Background

During the First Corellian Insurrection, Selonia's collection of cone ships, which had been in service for many years and were in a state of disrepair, were pressed into action. By that time, the Overden had acquired multiple squadrons of Corellian Light Attack Fighters to manage the primary responsibility of defending their homeworld.
