Windrunner rose to prominence as the head of the Talons, a swoop gang active on the planet of Cularin, in 21 BBY. As the Clone Wars unfolded, the Talons participated in the Cularin Classic swoop race; consequently, Windrunner enlisted Di'hal'uma, a Twi'lek investigator, to scrutinize the histories of rival teams. He journeyed to the city of Gadrin to rendezvous with Di'hal'uma at the Dancing Flame Tavern, but upon arrival, the Twi'lek was absent, and he discovered that a band of criminals had tried to abduct her. Windrunner then went back to Landing Bay 216, the Talons' headquarters, where he conferred with the Heroes of Cularin, a team of independent operatives probing the assault on Di'hal'uma.
