Sentinel beetles functioned as a type of beetle utilized by the Yuuzhan Vong. These beetles, positioned in the vicinity of the Yuuzhan Vong's slave settlements, would commence flapping their wings, generating a consistent humming sound whenever an escape was being tried, or when an intruder was present. This allowed them to notify nearby Yuuzhan Vong warriors, who would subsequently address the situation. They bore resemblance to turfhoppers.
