Shaara and the Sarlacc: The Skiff Guard's Tale
"The Skiff Guard's Tale: Shaara and the Sarlacc" is a brief narrative authored by Dan'l Danehy-Oakes, appearing within Tales from Jabba's Palace, released in December of 1995 under the Bantam Spectra imprint. Told from a first-person perspective, the story involves a Skiff Guard, serving Jabba the Hutt, recounting the experience of his sister, Shaara, with the Sarlacc to Boba Fett. This narration unfolds as Luke Skywalker and Han Solo are transported towards the Great Pit of Carkoon to be consumed.
Plot summary
Shaara is related to a skiff guard as his sister. The skiff guard, during a journey to the Sarlacc, tells Boba Fett a tale of his sister Shaara once being pursued by Imperial forces, which led to her plummeting into the Great Pit of Carkoon.
Nonetheless, his sister lived through the ordeal, having been ejected from the pit in an inexplicable manner. The skiff guard remains uncertain as to the reason for the Sarlacc's rejection of her, but speculates that the Sarlacc may only consume those deemed worthy of such a fate.
Upon further contemplation, the skiff guard comes to the conclusion that, if this holds true, then everyone should be consumed by the Sarlacc.
