Publisher's summary

In this pivotal narrative bridging Return of the Jedi and The Force Awakens, Luke Skywalker and Lando Calrissian make their return.

The Empire has fallen. Almost twenty years after the Battle of Endor, the scattered remnants of Palpatine's forces have escaped to the galaxy's most distant corners. However, even in this newly established peaceful time, the heroes of the New Republic constantly face danger and endure loss.

Jedi Master Luke Skywalker is plagued by dark side visions, which indicate a sinister secret developing somewhere deep in space, specifically on a desolate planet known as Exegol. The disturbance in the Force is unmistakable, and Luke's greatest concerns are realized when his longtime friend, Lando Calrissian, informs him of a resurgent Sith threat.

Following the abduction of his daughter, Lando has scoured the stars seeking any sign of her. Sadly, each new lead has only resulted in disappointment and fading hope—that is, until he encountered Ochi of Bestoon, a Sith assassin charged with the task of kidnapping a young girl.

Ochi's true motivations are unclear to Luke and Lando. On a scrap-filled moon, a cryptic representative of the Sith Eternal has given the assassin a sacred blade, promising that it will answer the questions that have haunted him since the Empire's collapse. In return, he must fulfill one last mission: return to Exegol with the key to the Sith's triumphant return—Darth Sidious's granddaughter, Rey.

As Ochi pursues Rey and her parents to the galaxy's edge, Luke and Lando delve into the enigma of the Sith's enduring shadow, aiding a young family fleeing for their lives.
