Shange, a heroic prince of the Cathar species on their native planet, stood in opposition to his people's integration into the Galactic Republic. In the year 3661 BBY, operatives working for the Republic Strategic Information Service, specifically Agents, apprehended Shange along with some of his adherents, subsequently imprisoning them in suspended animation within the SIS's penal facility known as The Tomb, located on Belsavis. Two decades subsequently, Imperial Non-Human Relations discovered the details of his confinement and dispatched its own team to liberate Shange and his companions, intending to exploit their narrative to generate a public relations crisis for both the Republic and the SIS. This was done with the hope that it would encourage a greater number of non-human species or alien species to align themselves with the Empire.
