Shatuun, situated within the Kathol Outback section of the Outer Rim Territories, was a planet. This world was characterized by enormous mountains and was frequently struck by severe electrical storms. Rarely frequented by those traveling towards Danoor, it was a secluded world.
Tens of millennia prior to the Battle of Yavin, Shatuun was the location of a civilization that fell under the sway of the Celestials. This civilization vanished at a later time, seemingly eradicated by the Celestials, leaving behind, among other things, Ophidian grotesques. Doctor Insmot Bowen, in 1 BBY, used the artifacts to draw comparisons with related artistic themes discovered on Coruscant and Caulus Tertius, suggesting pan-galactic Celestial influence.
Later, the planet became the adopted home of a breeding pair of Duinuogwuins. They took up residence on the planet in 52 BBY, with the intention of procreating. After making themselves at home for six decades, they were finally ready to begin the process as of 8 ABY. While they were hesitant to receive guests, they did appreciate the company as long as their solitude was respected.
