Danoor existed as a planetary body within the Nah'Malis system, which itself was situated in the Kathol Outback. It is classified as a planet according to historical records.
The surface of Danoor displayed a diverse palette of colors. Landmasses exhibited shades of green, blue, brown, and red, while the atmosphere featured white and gray cloud formations.
Around 92 BBY, Danoor became a colony established by a group of scientists. Their purpose was to utilize the planet as a research station for studying the enigmatic Kathol Rift. These scientists were not dispatched by any particular government; instead, they shared a unified objective: to delve into the mysteries presented by the Rift.
As word spread about Danoor's beauty and abundant natural resources, as well as the absence of a central governing authority, more colonists journeyed to the planet. The majority of these early settlers were farmers who sought to subsist off the land. Eventually, small businesses emerged. While the population began to organize into town groups, a centralized government remained absent.
In 22 BBY, tragedy struck when a rogue asteroid originating from the Duhrib Belt impacted Danoor. This cataclysmic event resulted in the deaths of half a million people and widespread devastation across the planet, caused by earthquakes, floods, and ash clouds. In response to the disaster, survivors advocated for the establishment of a centralized government to facilitate the planet's reconstruction. A governing body was formed, comprising one minister elected for every five hundred thousand citizens. This body was entrusted with responsibilities such as defense, policing, taxation, and financial aid. Recognizing the need for additional funds to rebuild Danoor, the government opened the planet to businesses from across the sector, offering special concessions to encourage their establishment. These companies were granted considerable autonomy, free from restrictions on their operations. Through these measures, the Danoor government accumulated sufficient credits to commence the rebuilding process.
In 8 ABY, a vessel identifying itself as the Lance of Endor arrived in orbit around Danoor, claiming to represent the New Republic. However, the ship was, in reality, the Lialic II, a corvette aligned with Moff Kentor Sarne. It was masquerading as a New Republic vessel with the intention of fostering animosity towards the galactic government. In a communication addressed to Danoor's leaders, Captain Rolf Treidum demanded the government's surrender, an annual tribute equivalent to half of the colony's gross income, and the conscription of ten percent of the population for slave labor.
One week later, the FarStar, a genuine New Republic ship, entered orbit around the planet. Its mission was to locate a navigator capable of guiding them into the Rift. Mistaking the FarStar for a follow-up to the initial demand, the government of Danoor met them with suspicion and disdain. Captain Kaiya Adrimetrum successfully convinced the government that they were not affiliated with the Lance of Endor and that the Lance did not represent the New Republic. Nevertheless, the government demanded a demonstration of good faith, requesting that the FarStar retrieve a mining droid that had been lost in the Duhrib Belt. The crew complied with the request and recovered the mining droid. Having proven their good intentions, the crew was directed to a navigator named Makezh.
Regrettably, Minister Nane was secretly collaborating with Captain Treidum, and upon the FarStar's arrival, she signaled the Imperial captain as per their prearranged agreement. This arrangement resulted in a battle between the FarStar and Sarne's forces.
