Disruptors at ship-scale represented disruptor weaponry that the Galactic Empire was attempting to enhance for utilization in space battles. Whether they actually accomplished this before their collapse, or if such an achievement was even feasible, remained uncertain. This technology, along with anti-ray shield energy weapons and a restraining bolt-override signal, constituted some of the research assets that operatives of the First Order sought to acquire, while members of the Resistance aimed to eradicate them, together with the Imperial lab records pertaining to the research's location.
