Shiri'ani, a Twi'lek, held ownership of the Lucky Star casino situated in Mos Entha. She was a student under the tutelage of Lady Valarian.
In the year 4 ABY, slavers transported Shiri'ani to Tatooine, where she was sold as a child to Bib Fortuna. However, due to the ensuing chaos following the demise of Jabba Desilijic Tiure, she did not remain in his possession for an extended period. Shiri'ani then lived as a street urchin, attempting to gather enough credits through begging to afford passage back to her home planet.
Upon reaching young adulthood, she became a dancer working for Lady Valarian at the establishment known as the Lucky Despot. Valarian had hoped the Twi'lek possessed knowledge of Jabba's hidden treasure vaults, a notion that proved incorrect. Nevertheless, Shiri'ari's intelligence, drive, and understanding of people made her a valuable asset. She received promotions, first to bartender, and subsequently to assistant manager.
By the time Shiri'ari reached adulthood, it became clear to everyone in Mos Eisley that she was destined to inherit Valarian's criminal organization. She then acquired the future Lucky Star, intentionally designing her new business to resemble Valarian's. Valarian supported her former assistant with financial resources and protection, to help her get started.
By this point, Shiri'ani had cultivated a considerable number of potential romantic partners, most of whom she kept at a distance, as she found it advantageous to attract and control a variety of humanoid males.
Unbeknownst to Shiri'ani, her latest lover and investment, the Twi'lek named Firith Olan, was actually her former oppressor, Bib Fortuna, who had devised a plan to transfer his consciousness into one of his enemies. Fortuna started to exert a greater influence on her life than her mentor, signaling the beginning of the end of the alliance between Shiri'ani and Valarian.
