The Torpedo Sphere can be classified as a siege platform.
A siege platform was essentially a battle station designed specifically for siege operations. Following the Invasion of Naboo, the Galactic Republic's Special Weapons Group put forward a design for a torpedo siege platform; however, this project was ultimately scrapped in the planning phase due to the government's pacifistic stance and the subsequent lack of financial backing. Torpedo Spheres, on the other hand, were a type of siege platform that were actually built by the Galactic Empire, the successor to the Galactic Republic. These Torpedo Spheres stretched two kilometers in length and boasted hundreds of torpedo launchers as their primary armament.
