Flight simulator

FlightSimulator-SW2 Luke Skywalker and Wedge Antilles are seen leaving an X-wing virtual reality training device.

A holosimulator, which is also referred to as a flight simulator, was a type of equipment utilized by pilots. It was designed to create simulated scenarios of take-offs, landings, and aerial combat.

Holosimulators could also be smaller in scale, providing users the ability to design or replicate combat situations. The CS-Mark 10, produced by Plescinia Entertainments, was pre-loaded with the "Great Battles of the Empire" series.

History

Holosimulators had diverse applications, one of which was in the instruction of starfighter pilots for their roles and for battle. The Empire, the Rebel Alliance, and the New Republic all made use of holosimulators to educate their pilots and get them ready for assignments. They were also employed for recreational purposes.

Luke Skywalker was given a simulation exercise as preparation for the Battle of Yavin. His demonstrated proficiency resulted in his acceptance into Red Squadron.

One particular holosimulator model was present in Jagged Fel's quarters during his time as Head of State. It was shaped like a ball, approximately two meters in height, and capable of simulating any TIE variant, including the Chiss clawcraft. It featured a hatch on top, similar to TIE models. The selection of opponents, along with their pilot skill and distribution, could be precisely configured. Fel was about to commence a simulation when an attempt to kidnap him occurred.
