Skirmish above a luminous lake

Following the Battle of Endor by about two weeks, Rogue Squadron found themselves in a skirmish high above a bright lake, fighting against TIE Series starfighters belonging to the Galactic Empire. These Rogues were fighting on behalf of the Alliance of Free Planets, the successor to the Rebel Alliance following the events at Endor. Under the cover of a dark night, Rogue Leader Wedge Antilles struck a TIE fighter; the resulting damage caused his X-wing fighter's engines and instruments to fail, leading to a forced crash landing. Despite his worry about the encompassing darkness, he was guided to a lake by luminous fish below. The remaining TIE fighters were dealt with by the rest of Rogue Squadron, and Antilles was rescued by a Y-wing and transported to a waiting EF76 Nebulon-B escort frigate, where he was playfully teased by his fellow pilots regarding his consistent good fortune. For Antilles, the event held a mix of emotions, causing him to contemplate a time when he felt the opposite of lucky—the death of his young girlfriend, Mala.
