Skrat Horle, who worked as a lab assistant, existed during the era of the Galactic Civil War. After the Battle of Yavin, Horle took part in activities as a member of the Galactic Empire's science division at the Imperial Research and Prison Facility located on the planet Dathomir. At that location, scientists were secretly involved in perilous scientific studies for the Empire, with the aim of re-engineering the terrible Blackwing virus to create a bioweapon. Horle's work took place on level 2 of the research laboratory. In 1 ABY, Skrat Horle was present when an incident occurred at the Imperial Research and Prison Facility, resulting in the escape of the virus from its containment. The virus caused the deaths of the majority of individuals in the area, transforming them into undead beings.
The 2003 video game Star Wars Galaxies, a massively multiplayer online roleplaying game created by Sony Online Entertainment and distributed by LucasArts, featured a reference to Skrat Horle before it was shut down on December 15, 2011. The inclusion of Skrat Horle in the game happened with "Game Update 14," which was launched on October 12, 2009.
