Soul Tree

The Soul Trees were saved from being burned by Ewoks.

A Soul Tree, which is also referred to as a birth-tree, held significant spiritual importance. It was customary to plant these trees within the forests of Endor's moon when an Ewok was born. The Ewok was believed to possess a spiritual link to their respective tree. Consequently, the tree's state was considered an indicator of the Ewok's well-being or personality. When the Ewok passed away, their hood would be affixed to the Soul Tree's trunk, and it was thought that the Ewok's spirit would then reside within the tree. There is at least one known instance of an Ewok spirit, specifically Erpham Warrick, remaining with its Soul Tree after death to safeguard it.

Because of their historical ties, Soul Trees were generally regarded as a source of power for Ewok shamans. These Ewoks with spiritual roles frequently sought to communicate with their ancestors and harness their power through the Soul Trees. Such rituals could be highly secretive for shamans.

Regrettably, the enemies of the Ewoks understand the strategic advantage of destroying the Soul Trees, as it can deeply affect the species and make them more vulnerable. To that end, Morag, a Tulgah witch, attempted to eradicate the Soul Trees of Bright Tree Village by setting them ablaze using enslaved Wisties. However, Wicket Wystri Warrick and his companions intervened, extinguishing the flames with magical foam. A second notable attempt occurred when the Duloks seized Erpham Warrick's Ewok battle wagon, which Wicket had reconstructed, with the intention of ramming the Soul Trees. Once again, the young Ewok foiled this plan by causing the wagon to collapse before it could inflict substantial damage.

Kaink served as the protector of the Soul Trees within Bright Tree Village.
