Erpham Warrick

Erpham Warrick was a male Ewok of the Ewok species. He is known as the inventor of the battle wagon, a device employed by the Ewoks as a means of defending themselves against the Duloks menace. Many seasons following this, specifically in the year 3 ABY, Warrick's descendant, his great-grandson named Wicket Warrick, reconstructed the wagon. Erpham offered him words of wisdom and support in the effort to overcome the Duloks.

Biography

Residing on the Forest Moon of Endor as a member of the Bright Tree Village tribe, Erpham Warrick was a male Ewok. A significant number of seasons prior to 3 ABY, during the Ewok–Dulok wars, the Ewoks' adversaries, known as the Duloks, destroyed some of the Ewoks' cherished Soul Trees. Warrick responded by designing the battle wagon, which he then utilized to protect the Ewoks and successfully repel the Duloks. Ultimately, he achieved renown as a distinguished Ewok warrior.

In the year 3 ABY, Erpham's great-grandson, Wicket Wystri Warrick—the offspring of Deej Warrick, Erpham's grandson, and Shodu Warrick, another of Erpham's descendants—discovered the remnants of the battle wagon. Motivated after hearing tales of Erpham from the legend keeper, Kaink, he decided to restore it with the help of his companions. Dulok spies, who were observing, interpreted this action as a threat. Consequently, several weeks afterwards, they stole the completed wagon for their own purposes. Unbeknownst to them, Wicket had been sleeping inside the contraption. Upon discovering him as a stowaway, they ejected him. Wicket then hurried back to Bright Tree Village to alert the others, but the Ewoks were generally unconvinced that a wagon rebuilt by children posed any real danger.

A disheartened Wicket made his way to his great-grandfather's Soul Tree, where he expressed his regret for the situation. Erpham then materialized and spoke with Wicket, gently scolding him for apologizing for his diligent efforts. He recounted that, when he initially constructed the battle wagon, the Ewoks had also ridiculed him until they understood its value against the Duloks. Erpham urged his great-grandson not to abandon a task he had started. Inspired, Wicket rushed off and ultimately saved the Ewoks by destroying the stolen battle wagon mere seconds before it could crash into Erpham and his Soul Tree. Later, the village rebuilt the machine as a gesture of gratitude to Wicket, and Erpham's spirit winked at his descendant as the Ewoks celebrated Wicket.

Personality and traits

Even in the face of mockery, Erpham Warrick remained dedicated to his creation. He encouraged his great-grandson to similarly persevere in what he believed was right. In his spectral form, he possessed blue-and-purple fur.

Behind the scenes

Erpham Warrick originated in "Wicket's Wagon," the tenth episode of the first season of the animated television series Ewoks, which was broadcast on November 9, 1985. His voice was provided by Antony Parr. The eighty-fourth issue of The Official Star Wars Fact File magazine by De Agostini, released around August 6, 2003, erroneously identifies Erpham as Wicket's grandfather, rather than his great-grandfather.
