The Ssamb were a species of large, intelligent arachnids, native to the planet Kathol, and possessed sentience. These creatures were engineered by the DarkStryder to act as its protectors. They had a headless appearance, moved using their six legs, and used large fangs as their primary method of attack. Inside the DarkStryder's stronghold, numerous swarms of these creatures patrolled all available surfaces, perpetually hunting for intruders. Genetically designed to obey their master, they would protect it even if it meant sacrificing themselves. The fortress was defended by a force of 500 Ssamb, while an additional 1,000 served as the DarkStryder's own personal guard.
