Stalimur

Stalimur, a planet within the Outer Rim Territories, existed within the Tion Hegemony sector. This tempestuous world was characterized by its moors, which were inhabited by farmers known as the Stalimurans. These inhabitants observed a Tionese winter celebration called the Devouring. Furthermore, the planet served as the homeworld for the notorious Stalimur pirates.

Description

Located in the Stalimur system, Stalimur was a world. It was situated in the Back Spiral region of the Tion Hegemony sector, specifically within the Tion Cluster found in the Slice area of the Outer Rim Territories. Positioned along the Tion Trade Route hyperlane, Stalimur was located between the Brigia and Erediss systems. Its climate was marked by storms and windswept moors, and it experienced a winter season.

Inhabitants

The inhabitants of Stalimur observed a holiday commemorating the Devouring (represented by the green arrow).

The Stalimurans, a group of farmers known for their gloomy and irritable nature beyond their own homeworld, resided on Stalimur. Equally infamous were the planet's groups of savage pirates, who targeted starships within the Stalimur system's asteroid belts. The slaver named Mar Balayan reportedly engaged in combat with one faction of these pirates sometime between 2 ABY and 3 ABY, before vanishing from the galactic criminal world for the subsequent five years.

Like other planets in the Tion Cluster, Stalimur observed a holiday during the winter season to commemorate the Devouring. This event was the ancient, brutal depopulation of numerous Tionese colonies in the Ash Worlds region, neighboring the Tion Hegemony, by the Hutt Empire. In the Stalimuran tradition, males would light candles and spend a night in quiet confession of the past year's transgressions at designated shrines located on the moors of Stalimur.

Behind the scenes

The mention of the Stalimur pirates in the "Wanted by Cracken" segment of the tenth issue of Star Wars Adventure Journal by West End Games, released in May 1996, marked Stalimur's introduction. C. Robert Carey was the author of this segment. The StarWars.com Hyperspace article "Xim Week: The History of Xim and the Tion Cluster" by Jason Fry, published on December 7, 2009, was the first to identify Stalimur as a distinct world. The reference book The Essential Atlas, released on August 18, 2009, placed the Stalimur system, and consequently Stalimur itself, in grid square S-6.
