Stan Winston (born in 1946, died on June 15, 2008), achieved acclaim as a film director and as a special effects and makeup artist, earning an Academy Award. His most recognized contributions were to projects like the Terminator series, the Jurassic Park series, Aliens, the Predator series, Pumpkinhead, and Edward Scissorhands. Winston, who often worked together with James Cameron, was the owner of several special effects companies, one of which was Stan Winston Digital. While Winston's established specialties included makeup, practical effects, and puppets, he had also broadened his studio's capabilities to include digital effects.
For 1978's The Star Wars Holiday Special, Winston contributed to the creation of the costumes for Chewbacca's family.
