Star Wars: Galactic Atlas

Star Wars: Galactic Atlas is a reference book released on November 3, 2016 by Egmont UK Ltd. This atlas, featuring vibrant illustrations from Tim McDonagh, explores the first seven Star Wars movies, along with Star Wars Rebels, Star Wars: The Clone Wars, novels, and comic books. The Disney–Lucasfilm Press published the American version on December 20, 2016 under the title Star Wars Galactic Maps: An Illustrated Atlas of the Star Wars Universe, which also contained a section about the then-forthcoming Rogue One: A Star Wars Story film.

During the development of the Star Wars Battlefront II video game, the Galactic Atlas was a resource that the development team specifically consulted.

Continuity

The Polish edition of Star Wars: Galactic Atlas from December 2016 includes an entry about the Empire of Zakuul, placing it in the far western part of the galaxy and within the Unknown Regions. The Zakuulan empire is considered a Star Wars Legends element, initially introduced in 2015 on swtor.com for the Knights of the Fallen Empire expansion of the BioWare video game Star Wars: The Old Republic. Emil Fortune, the author of Galactic Atlas, admitted that he was unsure of how Zakuul made its way into the Polish translation. Despite this, he confirmed that the world is not considered canon.
