Star Wars: Episode V The Empire Strikes Back, alternatively known as Star Wars Trilogy: The Empire Strikes Back, represents a Legends young adult novel penned by Ryder Windham. This novel draws its narrative from a story conceived by George Lucas and a screenplay crafted by Leigh Brackett alongside Lawrence Kasdan. It's an adaptation of the 1980 cinematic release, Star Wars: Episode V The Empire Strikes Back, and its initial publication occurred in October of 2004 through Scholastic.

Subsequently, this novel found its place within collections like Star Wars Trilogy: Collector's Edition (2005), Star Wars Boxed Set: Episodes I–VI (2007), and Star Wars: Classic Trilogy (2014).
