The 4th of May marks the year's 124th day, or the 125th if it's a leap year. After this day, 241 days remain in the year. It's popularly celebrated as "Star Wars Day," with the famous saying "May the Fourth be with you" playing on the Star Wars catchphrase "May the Force be with you."

The expression's origin can be traced back to at least 1979, coinciding with the election of Margaret Thatcher as the first female Prime Minister of the United Kingdom. To congratulate her, her political party ran an advertisement in the London Evening News that read, "May the Fourth be with you, Maggie. Congratulations."

On May 2nd, 2019, the California state legislature held a vote and formally designated May 4th as "Star Wars Day," recognizing the opening of Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge later that May.

The 2021 celebration included fifteen artists who were commissioned to create fan art for a Disney+ special event: Talisa Almonte, Kwasi Amankwah, Salvador Anguiano, Salena Barnes, Cryssy Cheung, Chris Christodoulou, Doaly, Lekelefac Fonge, AJ Frena, Erin Gallagher, Eddie Holly, Monica M.
