Star Wars: The Bad Batch


Star Wars: The Bad Batch is an animated television program that serves as both a direct follow-up and a side story branching from Star Wars: The Clone Wars. The narrative centers around Clone Force 99, also known as the squad of clone troopers who possess genetic mutations that enhance their abilities. Its announcement occurred on July 13, 2020, and it debuted on Disney+ on May 4, 2021. The first season consists of sixteen episodes, featuring a musical score crafted by Kevin Kiner, who previously contributed to Star Wars: The Clone Wars and Star Wars Rebels.

Dee Bradley Baker lends his voice to all the male members of The Bad Batch, including characters such as Hunter, Wrecker, Tech, Echo, and Crosshair, while Michelle Ang voices the character of Omega.

Official description

The show chronicles the journey of the Bad Batch, an exceptional group of clone troopers (initially seen in The Clone Wars), as they navigate a rapidly evolving galaxy in the immediate wake of the Clone War. The Bad Batch (Clone Force 99) comprises clones with unique genetic variations compared to their Clone Army counterparts. Each member possesses a distinct and remarkable skill, making them exceptionally effective soldiers and a formidable team. Set in the aftermath of the Clone Wars, they undertake perilous mercenary missions as they strive to survive and discover a renewed sense of purpose.

Development

The Bad Batch was revealed to the public on July 13, 2020, concurrently with the announcement of the producers and writers involved in the project. Dave Filoni, Athena Yvette Portillo, Brad Rau, and Jennifer Corbett were designated as executive producers. Carrie Beck took on the role of co-executive producer, while Josh Rimes served as producer. Rau also held the position of supervising director, and Corbett was appointed as the head writer for the series.

On August 5, 2021, the show received a renewal order for a second season.

The series was granted a renewal for a third and final season on April 10, 2023.

Marketing

The initial promotional trailer for the Bad Batch's first season was presented at a Disney investor event on December 10, 2020. A subsequent trailer was then made available on March 30, 2021.

On May 29 2022, Lucasfilm officially launched the trailer for the show's second season during the Star Wars Celebration Anaheim 2022 event.

Lucasfilm unveiled the official trailer for the show's third season on January 22 2024.

Release

The Bad Batch made its debut on Disney+ with its first episode on May 4, 2021, presenting a premiere episode that spanned 74 minutes. The first season consisted of 16 episodes, concluding on August 13, 2021.

The second season was broadcast across 16 episodes, starting on January 4 and finishing on March 29, 2023.

The third season began airing on February 21, 2024.
