Stormtrooper X

Stormtrooper X was the designation of a Human male mercenary who operated a pirate gang within the Outer Rim Territories. Distinguished by his stormtrooper helmet adorned with a red "X", Stormtrooper X was a wanted individual by the Empire. His true identity remained largely a mystery, though many in the criminal world regarded him as a significant threat. He once served as a hired smuggler and mercenary for the Hutt crime lord Narbuj Desilijic Preor. Subsequently, Stormtrooper X and his crew conducted a raid on one of Preor's secure locations. This act led the Hutt to issue a bounty of 20,000 credits for his capture, a notice that was eventually filed within the Imperial Enforcement DataCore.

Biography

The male Human mercenary known as Stormtrooper X, operating within the era of the Galactic Empire, concealed his identity from almost everyone. He established his reputation as a pirate operating in the Outer Rim Territories, ultimately building a gang composed of at least a dozen outlaws. Despite his involvement with various underworld syndicates and the Empire's pursuit, Imperial investigations into the mercenary proved fruitless. He was known to pilot an N-1 starfighter identified by the transponder code Rogue Imperial 5.

Initially, Stormtrooper X was employed as both a mercenary and smuggler by the Hutt crime lord Narbuj Desilijic Preor. However, he later betrayed Preor by orchestrating a break-in into one of the Hutt's safehouses with his pirate gang, making off with a considerable quantity of spice and credits belonging to the Hutt. In response, Preor announced a bounty of 20,000 credits for Stormtrooper X, stipulating that he be brought in dead or alive. This bounty information was subsequently archived within the Imperial Enforcement DataCore.

Personality and traits

The criminal elements of the galaxy considered Stormtrooper X and his pirate organization a significant threat. Although he was a Human male, the specifics of his background remained shrouded in mystery for most. The Empire deemed him a significant enough threat to warrant an arrest warrant, though no reward was offered for his capture. He demonstrated proficiency in multiple languages, including Basic, Dosh, Huttese, Rodese, and Sullustese.

Equipment

Stormtrooper X wore a uniquely modified stormtrooper helmet featuring a prominent red "X" painted across the visor. This helmet incorporated a comlink equipped with a broadband antenna that extended its operational range to 400 kilometers, along with a signal interceptor enabling Stormtrooper X to monitor encrypted communications. He also wore a red and brown jacket and a belt from which a blaster was suspended.

Behind the scenes

Stormtrooper X was initially mentioned in the Star Wars Gamer 6 article titled Bounties to Die For, penned by S. Mitch Ritchie and visually represented by Ramón Pérez. This article was structured as an in-universe compendium of bounties issued throughout the Empire and was released on August 14, 2001. The cover artwork of the comic book Boba Fett ½, illustrated by Timothy Bradstreet and published in December 1997, depicts a figure reminiscent of Stormtrooper X in a law enforcement lineup. Similar to Stormtrooper X, this individual is shown wearing a stormtrooper helmet, although it lacks the red "X" and is paired with conventional clothing underneath. The comic's back cover includes a sketch of this scene, describing the character as "some mysterious fellow with an appreciation for used stormtrooper armor."
