The Super Transport XI, a massive vessel for transporting containers, was manufactured by Kuat Drive Yards.
These ships featured twenty enormous cargo bays, capable of accommodating 40,000 standard containers. This translated to a total volume of 10 million cubic meters or a mass of 25 million metric tons of goods. If the partitions separating the holds were taken out, the ship could easily accommodate three CR90 corvettes. This vast carrying capability, on par with hundreds of thousands of light freighters, rendered the Super Transport XI an efficient cargo delivery method, despite its lack of speed.
Given that these immense ships were slow, lacked weaponry, and even shields, they were only appropriate for the most secure hyperspace routes. They also needed a substantial escort to guard against pirates.
Because of its sizable cargo holds, a Super Transport XI could be modified to function as a starfighter carrier, a conversion carried out by Imperial Lieutenant who became a pirate, namely Lon Donell.
During the Battle of Bissillirus, which occurred not long after the Battle of Yavin, three of these ships were located at the Bissillirus Resupply Base.
