Syntherope

Syntherope, alternatively spelled synthrope and also referred to as synthecord, represented a robust, artificially created rope. A notable application was in ascension guns, functioning as a climbing aid that enabled users to secure themselves and swiftly move either vertically or horizontally.

The Tunroth bounty hunter named Kiran Tatch had a reputation for employing it during the capture of his targets. Bandoliers served as storage for these ropes.

Description

Manufactured by Degan Explorations, syntherope was a slender, lightweight, yet exceptionally resilient synthetic rope that found application in virtually every sector throughout the galaxy. The rope possessed a tensile strength that exceeded that of durasteel by a factor of ten. Its composition involved a combination of both naturally occurring and synthetic chemicals and fabrics, notably incorporating proteins derived from the secretions of numerous arachnid species.

Syntherope was commercially available in spools of twenty meters in length and was mainly used for activities like climbing, rappelling, and securing loads. In principle, it could be used in any scenario requiring a strong rope. The widespread prevalence and utility of syntherope led to a common saying: a length of syntherope could be located at the base of virtually every backpack, pannier, and cargo container within the Outer Rim Territories.
