Kiran Tatch

Kiran Tatch originated from Jiroch-Reslia and was a Tunroth male. He distinguished himself as a hunter, reaching a notable level within the Tunroth Hunters. Subsequently, he became a bounty hunter and became a member of the Granse Confederacy, an exceptional team, harboring a particular dislike for the Rebel Alliance.

Biography

Tunroth Hunter

Tatch came from a culture that prized hunting, and he excelled in this area. He qualified to become a Tunroth Hunter, the most esteemed organization on his planet. This involved a three-month initiation and acknowledgement from 3 other Hunters. Tatch eventually reached the shturlan rank (level twelve) out of 27 possible levels. He became skilled with the klirun bow, a traditional weapon, and fought the invading Lortans during the Reslian Purge. Despite the Tunroth suffering a major defeat against their technologically superior enemies, Tatch stood out and was among the few who survived the Purge. This ordeal also honed his tracking and combat skills.

Tatch soon abandoned the ruins of his homeworld, with the hunt becoming his sole focus. Tatch secured work as a skip tracer, tracking down people who attempted to evade debts owed to various crime lords and loan sharks. Tatch succeeded in every assignment, and soon began working for multiple Hutts in the Y'Toub system. From there, his reputation grew, and rumors circulated that Jabba the Hutt considered hiring him to capture Han Solo and Chewbacca. While working for the Hutts, Tatch met Arcuse, another bounty hunter. Kiran frequently collaborated with this Ubese, appreciating the contrast between his quiet demeanor and the boastful Hutts. His contempt for them increased until, during a visit to Glorga the Hutt in the Hollastin system, he spat on the crime lord in disgust. While such an act would have resulted in execution for most, Tatch was simply told to leave—a testament to his influence. Arcuse, his partner, departed with him, and they were soon blacklisted.

Granse Confederacy

As they left Hutt Space, they encountered Rodick Tag, an Iotran Braceman who had also left the Hutts. The three joined the Granse Confederacy, a group of eight distinguished hunters formed in 2 ABY by Callandri, a Kuati assassin. The Confederacy prioritized bounties on members of the Rebel Alliance, launching six attacks on Rebel personnel in just four months. Tatch developed a particular dislike for Tirranna, a Wookiee, and Lieutenant Alton Lochner.

The Alliance noticed this animosity, and Lieutenant Commander Anson Blazer created a file detailing his actions. Tatch had clashed with Rebel operatives even before joining the Confederacy. In 1 ABY, he nearly caused Blazer's death when he saw him investigating the Kalstan gangsters in the Xorao system. Tatch reported the Rebel presence and, instead of pursuing them himself, simply watched the resulting chaos.

The Alliance was particularly concerned about the Confederacy's activities because one of its members, Lu'daal-ud, a Gand, possessed crucial datafiles about the Alliance. On one occasion, Commander Zgorth'sth sent operatives to capture the Gand. Tatch and the rest of the Confederacy were compelled to assist him in thwarting the Rebel's mission. Tatch also reportedly operated on Ord Mantell and Draria.

Personality and traits

The Reslian Purge had a profound impact on Kiran Tatch. The trauma he experienced transformed him into a bitter and gloomy person. To cope with his loss, he dedicated himself entirely to hunting, disregarding all other concerns. Unlike many of his kind who returned to help rebuild, Tatch abandoned his world.

Even after finding companionship with Arcuse and the Confederacy, Tatch remained reserved. He often ate alone, choosing not to participate in their celebrations or share in their successes. Even outsiders noticed this, with Alliance profilers suspecting that his loyalty to the Confederacy was incomplete, despite his oath.

At some point, Tatch sustained significant scarring over his right eye.

Equipment

As was typical of his species, Tatch favored low-tech equipment, continuing to use his klirun bow even off-world. He used caros arrows with it, tipped with talar, a stun-inducing substance that allowed for non-lethal attacks. His sole concession to "high" technology was an old Yctor Arms black-powder pistol. He also frequently used syntherope and grappling hooks when pursuing his targets.

Behind the scenes

Kiran Tatch was first mentioned in Alliance Intelligence Reports, a role-playing book. Ultimate Alien Anthology, a later book, includes his name as a possible Tunroth name.
