Taikotelai Akikoma

Taikotelai Akikoma, also known as "Tai," was a male Nagai warrior who fought in the Nagai–Tof War.

Biography

As a young Nagai, Tai's life, like that of all Nagai, was constantly threatened by death or capture at the hands of the Tof. At some point, Tof forces captured Tai. The memories of this imprisonment would remain with Tai throughout his service in the Nagai military. Evidence suggests that Tai suffered sexual abuse during his captivity. Eventually, Tai managed to escape and return to his people.

Once back among the Nagai, Tai enlisted in the Nagai military and rose through the ranks, eventually achieving the position of Wing Leader. In this role, Tai participated in the Nagai–Tof War as part of the Twelfth Squadron. During the conflict, Tai was stationed in the Trenwyth system. There, the "Old Enemy" engaged the Nagai forces. Tai fought against the Tof, but during an engagement with Tof fighters, his ship was shot down, and he sustained injuries.

Following the battle, Tai discovered that he was among the few Nagai survivors. He began to traverse the planet, attempting to evade the Tof forces searching for stranded Nagai. While traveling across the planet, Tai encountered the wreckage of a Rebel team's ship, led by Princess Leia Organa. Recognizing the team as enemies of the Nagai, Tai attempted to take them as hostages. However, due to his injuries from the crash, Tai collapsed, unable to maintain his blaster aimed at the Rebels.

Tai became a prisoner of the Rebels. Remembering his previous imprisonment by the Tof, Tai struggled to free himself from his bonds. However, Princess Leia, realizing that Tai did not pose a significant threat, released him, attempting to demonstrate that they meant him no harm. Gradually, Tai's attitude toward his captors changed, and he began to befriend them. While hiding from Tof ground troops, the Rebels tended to Tai's injuries, helping him recover. Once the Tof forces had left the planet, the Rebels decided to return to the Alliance in their repaired ship.

Knowing that their small ship did not have space for a Nagai prisoner, Leia released Tai, instructing him to return to his people. Tai departed with a newfound respect for the Alliance.

This respect, however, proved to be short-lived. Tai returned to Nagai headquarters and reported to Commander Knife, who congratulated him on surviving the Battle of Trenwyth. However, Nagai honor demanded that he take his own life to atone for the shame of accepting mercy from an enemy. When Tai failed to fulfill this obligation, Commander Knife took it upon himself and killed Taikotelai.
